Balm Baby FAQs
Why not plastic containers, what's the big deal?
Plastic poses 2 serious issues. 1: To our Planet - Plastic NEVER breaks down. Yes, it can be down-cycled, but what most don't realize is that it can only be down-cycled so many times until it just stays in our ecosystem / oceans / landfills / etc. FOREVER. Not for 2 generations, but for ALL generations to come. 2: To our health - Plastic is full of unsafe toxins which can leach into products. We are learning more all the time about issues with plastics. Even those than are BPA-free still have other toxins. And there is so much more we just don't know yet. So, as a company never want to put you or your family's health at risk. Instead, we are a company who offers safe, sustainable, eco-friendly containers for products going on the largest organ of your body, your skin!
I'm allergic to gluten/wheat, can I use your products?
YES! All of our products are gluten & wheat free! Customers with celiac disease love our products for this reason!
What are the "gritty" pieces in my balm?
Sometimes you will see little "grains" in our balms. This is due to it cooling & heating many times (usually in shipping). Because we use all natural ingredients with no synthetic unhealthy binders, this separation can sometimes occur. The product is still effective and doesn't harm anything & should melt right on the skin it's being put on.
My Bye Bye Teething Tincture has little bits in it, should I be concerned?
This can happen. This product has herbs & although filtered, sometimes bits of herbs can remain. This is just a little extra goodness in your tincture.
Is your sunscreen safe for babies and waterproof?
Yes and yes! We recommend using it on babies 6+ months. It is water-resistand (may need to be re-applied, depending on water activities, but holds up for awhile). It is also safe to use on your LIPS! As a small company, we cannot pay the super high fees to get it tested. That said, it was formulated to be SPF30, and customers have been using it effectively for 15+ years now, in every region of the world (from Costa Rica, to Hawaii).
Are your products organic?
Most of the ingredients used in our products are organic. The list of ingredients for each product will show which are organic.
What are the black/brown specks in my balm...is that mold?
The dark specks you may see are what we call "the goods!" Seriously - they are herbs from our herbal infusion. Our products are the real deal; mother earth's healing herbs truly infused into mother earth's oils. We leave a bit in there because they are so good for your skin! So if you see dark specks, feel blessed.
I got the Bye Bye Teething & the top of the dropper looks like it's going to explode! It's all "ballooned."
This can happen during shipping. Sometimes the bulb on the dropper can "balloon." This is normal due to elevation changes when shipping. The product is still good, simply unscrew the dropper and then screw back down. The rubber will just look funny & may not function 100%. If for some reason it doesn't work properly, please contact us.
What are the little crystal pieces in my tooth paste?
If the lid isn't closed after each use the toothpaste can dry out. The crystal pieces are the xylitol. The toothpaste is still ok to use and your kids may even enjoy crunching on the little "candy" pieces. The xylitol is good for the teeth! Please remember our toothpaste may taste like it but it is NOT candy. Please don't let you child "Eat" our toothpaste.
I've ordered the teeth paste before, and the flavor tastes different. Is it ok?
Crops can and do change. So, herbs and essential oils will vary a little from crop to crop. This is the nature of 100% pure and natural products. Our ingredients are not made in a lab (not synthetic), so this can vary the product, especially notable in taste and smell.
